- Sugarcane cultivation will be profitable due to reduction in labour and cost.
An innovative initiative by the district administration is proving to be a boon for sugarcane farmers in Balod district. With financial support from the District Mineral Fund (DMF), the state’s first state-of-the-art sugarcane harvester machine has been provided to the Danteshwari Maiya Cooperative Sugar Factory. This has made the sugarcane harvesting process in the district more technologically advanced and efficient.

Mr. R.P. Rathiya, Managing Director of the factory, stated that this machine is capable of harvesting and peeling 80 to 100 tons of sugarcane per day. The integrated process of harvesting, peeling, and loading will significantly reduce labor costs and relieve farmers of the labor-availability problem. After machine harvesting, separate stubble management will be eliminated, and sugarcane can be loaded directly onto a tractor or truck via the infielder, speeding up transportation. Mr. Premshankar Deshmukh, a farmer from Dudhli village, stated that this initiative will reduce costs and save time, making sugarcane production more profitable. This initiative is a significant achievement in the direction of agricultural mechanization in the district.
