- Silver medal from NITI Aayog for 100% achievement in 6 indices
The picture of Chhattisgarh’s aspiring development blocks is now changing rapidly. Work is being done here in the direction of health, nutrition, agriculture, education, infrastructure and financial inclusion. Among the 500 aspiring development blocks across the country, Lakhanpur development block has achieved 100% achievement in the six primary indices set between 1 July and 30 September 2024, for which NITI Aayog has awarded the aspiring development block Lakhanpur with a silver medal.
Through the Sampoornata Abhiyan run in the aspirational development block Lakhanpur, the government’s schemes have reached the grassroots level, which has brought positive changes in the lives of people, especially the backward tribes. Aakanksha Haat, based on the theme of “Vocal for Local”, proved to be an important step towards strengthening the rural economy.
Significant progress was recorded in indicators such as registration of all pregnant women for antenatal care, 100% coverage of the targeted population in diabetes and hypertension testing, 100% number of women receiving supplementary nutrition. 1000 soil health cards were distributed after completing the soil testing target. At the same time, financial empowerment was promoted by distributing 99 percent revolving fund to self-help groups under NRLM. Lakhanpur, included in the list of development blocks belonging to backward and particularly vulnerable tribal groups, has brought pride to the state by securing second place in Zone-5 and 27th place at the national level in the Delta Ranking of September to December 2023.
With the aim of promoting local products in the aspirational development block Lakhanpur, Aakanksha Haat is being organized from 31st July to 5th August where handicrafts, tattoo painting, bamboo products, coarse grains and traditional food items prepared by women groups are being exhibited and sold. While this initiative is creating employment opportunities, it is also giving new life to traditional art and culture.
