Under the good governance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, women in the state are becoming economically empowered through the Bihan Yojana and are steadily moving towards self-reliance. By joining self-help groups, women are developing new livelihood opportunities and bringing positive changes to their lives.
Mrs. Sanjyoti Chauhan of Tangargaon village in the Kansabel development block of Jashpur district has set an inspiring example of self-reliance by working as a Bank Sakhi. She is associated with the Chandni Self Help Group. After joining the group, she benefited from various government schemes, which gave a new direction to her economic empowerment.

Mrs. Chauhan has been working as a Bank Sakhi with the Gramin Bank since 2019. She operates a grocery store and provides banking services. She handles transactions totaling approximately 8 to 9 lakh rupees per month, earning an average income of 3 to 4 thousand rupees. Additionally, she provides services to villagers through digital payments, insurance, and other financial services.
She explained that to begin her work as a Bank Sakhi, she took out a loan of 68,000 rupees through a self-help group, which helped her launch this work. Today, she is self-reliant, supporting her family and living a respectable life.
Mrs. Sanjyoti Chauhan’s success demonstrates that women can become economically empowered by taking advantage of government schemes and establish a strong identity in society.
