A review meeting on the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM Janman) scheme was held today in the main committee room of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly under the chairmanship of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam. In the meeting, the effective implementation of schemes to tribal communities, ground challenges and upcoming strategy were discussed in detail.
Tribal Minister Shri Netam said in the meeting that it should be ensured that work for the development of special backward tribes is done with everyone’s participation and sensitivity. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is running many schemes for the benefit of tribes. This is one of the ambitious schemes of the Central and State Government. We need to implement the schemes on priority to fulfill the goals of PM Janman Yojana. He said that the tribals live in that house, so the PM houses being built for special backward tribes under this scheme should be designed in accordance with their culture, tradition and environment.
Minister Shri Netam said that our government is working towards good governance for promotion of the interests of all sections. The aim of good governance is that the benefits of schemes like education, health, livelihood and basic amenities reach the last person. A new wave of change is being brought in remote and deprived areas through PM Janman Abhiyan. With the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ and Sabka Prayas, we are committed to connect the tribal areas with justice and development.
Minister Shri Netam said that PM Janman Yojana is not just about building roads, bridges and culverts but it is a mission. Only by working in coordination and dedication with those sections, we can achieve 100% target.
In the meeting, the officials informed that in Chhattisgarh, five tribal groups namely Abujhmariya, Baiga, Birhor, Kamar and Pahadi Korwa have been placed under the category of special backward tribes. Under the PM Janman Yojana, work is being done towards completely saturating every person and village of these special backward tribes. For this scheme, 1541 Gram Panchayats of 53 development blocks of 18 districts of the state have been identified. These include 2 lakh 12 thousand 688 people in 56 thousand 569 families of special backward tribes. Their total settlements are 2 thousand 365.
Officials said that under the scheme, 33 thousand 132 houses have been approved for the families of backward tribes. Out of these, 9 thousand 901 houses have been completed. The third installment has also been released for the construction of more than 14 thousand houses, soon the construction of these houses will also be completed.
Officials said that in the year 2023-24, 333 works have been approved for the construction of paved and connecting roads in the settlements of these classes. Their total length is 1170 km. Out of these, 475 km long roads have been completed. Under Phase-2, 299 works have been approved. Their length is 856 km. It was told in the meeting that under the scheme, 191 Anganwadi centers have been approved and are being operated. Similarly, efforts are being made to improve the health of these classes. Under the scheme, out of 1442 settlements, 989 villages are saturated by health centers. At the same time, 317 villages are saturated with mobile medical units and approval has been given for 57 more mobile medical units. Thus 1416 villages are physically saturated. Preparations are being made for bike medical units in the remaining 26 inaccessible villages.
In the meeting, Minister Shri Netam also reviewed the electricity system in backward tribal settlements, construction of ashram-hostels, installation of mobile towers, construction of multi-purpose centres, establishment of Van Dhan Vikas Centres and progress of vocational and skill education.
Principal Secretary of Tribal, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class Development Department Mr. Sonamni Bora, Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mrs. Niharika Barik, Secretary of Women and Child Development Department Mrs. Shammi Abidi, Commissioner of Tribal, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class Development Department Dr. Saraans Mittal, Director of Tribal Research and Training Institute Mr. Jagdish Sonkar, Director of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mr. Taran Prakash Sinha and senior officers of all concerned departments were present in the meeting.
