145 bulk liters of illegal Mahua liquor seized

  • 690 kg of liquor was destroyed

To strictly stop the illegal trade of liquor in Balodabazar district and to take action against the smugglers, surprise investigations are being conducted continuously by the Excise Department team. During the investigation, the Excise team has seized 145 liters of Mahua liquor. During this, 690 kg of Mahua Lahan seized has also been destroyed.

According to the information received, upon receiving information about the manufacture and storage of illegal raw Mahua liquor in village Hasua Balouda of Kasdol circle, the excise team reached the spot and seized a total of 110 bulk liters of Mahua liquor filled in jerry cans of different capacities. About 690 kg of Mahua lahan stored in 23 plastic bags kept on the river bank was destroyed. The estimated market value of the seized Mahua liquor is Rs. 22,000 and the value of the destroyed lahan is Rs. 41,400. In the said case, a case has been registered against the unknown accused under the sections of Chhattisgarh Excise Act 1915 and investigation is being carried out.

In the same sequence, in the action taken in village Rampur under Palari circle, 35 bulk liters of Mahua liquor was seized from the possession of accused Anil Jangde, son of Chetan Jangde. The market value of the seized liquor is Rs 7,000. A case of violation of the section of the Excise Act was registered against the accused and the accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody. The Excise Officer said that the campaign against illegal liquor manufacturing and sale will continue in future as well.
