Riya Sindoor, the 6-year-old daughter of Amit Sindoor, a resident of Sanjay Nagar in Kanker, the district headquarters, who was born deaf and speech-impaired, has been successfully treated under the Chirayu scheme. The financially challenged family couldn’t afford expensive treatment at a private hospital, but with the help of the government scheme, the girl found a new lease on life.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. R.C. Thakur stated that during a routine health checkup by the Chirayu team, Riya was diagnosed with a cochlear implant. She was subsequently referred to AIIMS, Raipur for evaluation, where specialist doctors recommended a cochlear implant. This treatment would have cost approximately 10 to 12 lakh rupees in a private hospital. However, under the Chirayu scheme, her operation was performed completely free of charge at AIIMS, Raipur on July 6, 2026. Riya’s health has improved significantly since the operation. She has now regained her hearing and speech and is receiving therapy at AIIMS, Raipur. Riya’s parents have expressed their gratitude to the Chhattisgarh government, district administration, and health department for this successful treatment.
