Agricultural operations are in full swing in the state. As of August 25th, 97 percent of the target sowing has been completed across 4.74 million hectares of the state. A target sowing area of 4.86 million hectares has been set for this Kharif season.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has directed officials to ensure easy access to fertilizers and seeds for farmers. He has directed the concerned officials to provide all necessary support to facilitate farmers’ farming. He has directed the farmers to ensure easy distribution of certified fertilizers and seeds to farmers as per their demand. He has also directed strict action against any negligence in the fertilizer and seed distribution system. He has also directed the societies to stock adequate fertilizers and seeds and maintain constant monitoring. Under the guidance of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam, officials of the Agriculture Department are continuously monitoring these activities.
- Agriculture Department officials stated that 12.07 lakh metric tons of fertilizer and 4.58 lakh
quintals of certified seeds have been distributed to farmers in the state so far. Agriculture Department officials stated that the area under cultivation, which began with the monsoon, is steadily increasing. The initial cultivation work is in its final stages. So far, 47.40 lakh hectares of various crops, including paddy, maize, kodo, kutki, arhar, green gram, peanuts, and ramtil, have been sown in the state, representing 97 percent of the target. The state government has set a target of sowing 48.69 lakh hectares for this Kharif season.
The state has set a target of distributing 15.55 lakh metric tons of fertilizer this Kharif season. Against this target, 16.67 lakh metric tons of fertilizer has been stored in the cooperative and private sectors. Against the said storage, 12.07 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been distributed to farmers, which is 72 percent of the target.
Similarly, for the Kharif season 2026, the Seed Corporation has set a target of distributing 4.95 lakh quintals of certified seeds in the state, against which 4.80 lakh quintals of seeds have been stored and till now 4.58 lakh quintals of seeds have been distributed to farmers, which is 93 percent of the demand.
- Average rainfall of 839.4 mm recorded in the state till now: The average annual rainfall of the state
is 1246.3 mm. Officials informed that as of the morning of 25th August, an average rainfall of 839.4 mm has been recorded in the state till now, whereas the average annual rainfall of the state is 1246.3 mm. It is noteworthy that the average rainfall recorded in the districts till date is 29.2 mm more than 810.2 mm on the basis of last 10 years. Last year, during the same period, 821.0 mm rainfall was recorded.
- Free short term agricultural loan of Rs 7778.76 crore to needy farmers:
Agriculture department officials informed that the state government is providing short term agricultural loan through Kisan Credit Card to the farmers to facilitate them in farming. As of August 24th, loans worth ₹7,778.76 crore have been disbursed for the current kharif season 2026, compared to ₹6,449.95 crore disbursed during the same period last year. This year, a target of ₹8,800 crore in loans has been set.
