- Success story set under National Edible Oil Mission
Mr. Rambaran Verma, a resident of Kashibahara (Behramara) village in the Chhura development block, has taken a new initiative in farming through the National Edible Oil Mission-Oil Palm Scheme. He formed the Nature Agricultural Farm Group in 2025-26 and adopted modern oil palm cultivation. Mr. Verma owns approximately 20 hectares of cultivable land. He previously grew paddy and other crops. After learning about the Oil Palm Scheme from Horticulture Department officials, he took advantage of facilities such as borehole drilling, fencing, drip irrigation, and maintenance subsidies. He planted oil palm with drip irrigation technology and began cultivating mango, mulberry, and vegetables as intercrops. This improved land utilization and increased his profits.
Currently, he has formed a group and planted oil palm on approximately 50 acres. Seeing this, nearby farmers are also inspired and coming forward to take advantage of the National Edible Oil Mission-Oil Palm Scheme. Horticulture Department officials stated that farmers can increase their income by effectively utilizing modern technologies and government schemes. The oil palm plantations established through the group have set an example for farmers in the district.
