- Farming is more than a livelihood, it is a way of life: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday returned to his farming roots, ploughing a field with a pair of bullocks in his native village Bagiya in Jashpur district.
Shri Sai reached the field early in the morning and took up the plough to carry out the traditional biyasi, a farming practice associated with paddy cultivation. The moment brought back memories of his childhood and his close association with agriculture.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said, “Coming from a farming family, agriculture has never been just a means of livelihood for me. It is a way of life and a value I have grown up with.”
Shri Sai said spending time in his village and fields gave him a sense of peace and renewed energy. He recalled how working on the land from an early age had shaped his understanding of hard work, respect for labour and the need to remain connected with nature and one’s roots.
Chief Minister said agriculture remains central to Chhattisgarh’s identity, with the state’s rural life, traditions and festivals closely linked to farming. Generations of farmers have contributed to the state’s prosperity through their hard work, he said.
He also stressed the need to remain connected with traditional practices even as the state moves towards modernization. Farming, he said, teaches patience, hard work and sensitivity towards nature, while farmers contribute to both society and the state’s economy through their labour.
“Chhattisgarh’s soil, its rich farming traditions and its hardworking farmers have always been close to my heart. The prosperity of farmers and agriculture is a strong foundation for the prosperity of the state,” Shri Sai said.
He commended the state’s farmers for their hard work and wished them prosperity and a plentiful harvest.
