Under ‘Project Punarjeevan’ (Project Rejuvenation), the Raipur Municipal Corporation has—across various zones—removed tree guards from approximately 2,038 locations and concrete enclosures/pavers from around 397 trees; this campaign is progressing continuously.

  • This initiative has provided these plants with an environment-friendly setting, enabling them to grow naturally and thrive with ease.

Following the directives of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of District Collector Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh, the popular and eco-friendly ‘Project Punarjeevan’ was implemented. This action was prompted by the deep concern regarding environmental conservation expressed by the Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ramen Deka. Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Shri Sambit Mishra, all 10 Zonal Commissioners in the Raipur Municipal Corporation area conducted continuous monitoring and daily inspections across all wards. They identified plants that were previously unable to grow naturally due to being constricted by tree guards and concrete enclosures or pavers.
To facilitate natural growth and allow these plants to access soil and water in an eco-friendly environment, the tree guards and concrete enclosures/pavers were removed. This task was carried out rapidly and continuously across all 10 zones of the Raipur Municipal Corporation, prioritizing environmental protection and the public interest. To protect the environment for the public good, saplings across various zones had previously been planted with concrete paver enclosures around them. Under the direction of the Zonal Commissioners, a rapid drive is currently underway to remove these concrete enclosures—so far, approximately 2,038 tree guards and 397 concrete paver rings have been taken down. This campaign is progressing continuously across the Raipur Municipal Corporation area. Under the constant supervision of all Zonal Commissioners, priority is being given to creating an eco-friendly environment that allows these saplings to thrive naturally and access necessary water.
Raipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. Sambit Mishra has prioritized this initiative and issued clear directives to all Zonal Commissioners to execute these environmental conservation efforts for the public good.
Raipur District Collector Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh has made a humble appeal to all residents of the capital city to actively participate in nurturing these saplings by providing necessary water, manure, and care.
Citizens who contribute in this manner will be honored as ‘Friends of the Environment’ (Paryavaran Mitra) by the Raipur District Administration under the eco-friendly ‘Project Punarjeevan’ (Revival Scheme) in recognition of their valuable contribution to environmental conservation.
Commissioner Mr. Sambit Mishra is personally monitoring these eco-friendly activities daily and continuously reviewing their progress across all 10 zones of the Municipal Corporation, in accordance with the directives of District Collector Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh.
