Secretary of Public Works Department, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Bansal, while reviewing the departmental and construction works of Bilaspur region, directed the officials to speed up the work and complete all the processes in a timely manner. In the meeting held at Nirman Bhawan, Nava Raipur, he told the departmental engineers that the quality of construction works and their completion within the stipulated time limit is the top priority of the department. Any kind of compromise on quality is not acceptable. He directed to keep in mind the future needs and increasing traffic while preparing new proposals for roads and bridges. Chief Engineer of Public Works Department, Mr. V.K. Bhatphari and Additional Secretary, Mr. S.N. Srivastava were also present in the meeting.
Mr. Bansal directed officials to be proactive and expedite all work, from estimation to tendering. He directed all executive engineers to maintain close coordination with their district collectors to ensure prompt resolution of construction-related issues and site-based problems, maintaining the pace of work. He directed field officers to spend at least two days a week in the field to closely monitor and inspect construction projects. He directed them to continuously monitor contractors’ work and ensure construction meets established standards. He also directed them to conduct quality checks at every stage of road and building construction, ensuring strong and durable construction.

The Public Works Department Secretary directed that new projects that have been tendered be started by October. He instructed that both the pace and quality of work be closely monitored once they begin. He also placed special emphasis on the maintenance of roads and bridges. He emphasized that roads should appear clean, beautiful, and well-maintained. He urged that roads and bridges damaged during the rainy season be repaired immediately so that public movement is not disrupted.
Mr. Bansal directed executive engineers and subdivisional officers to meet with the SDM to inspect the mutation of land acquired for various construction projects. He directed that the mutation process for both new and old land acquisition cases be completed within one month. He also directed that completed works at the designated posts be immediately handed over to the concerned departments.
The departmental secretary also inquired about the operation and maintenance of rest houses and circuit houses in the meeting. He asked to ensure better cleanliness and maintenance in the department’s buildings as well as to keep the entire premises organized. Ms. Anshika Pandey, Deputy Secretary of the Public Works Department, Mr. Shashank Pandey, Additional Managing Director of Chhattisgarh Road and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Mr. R.K. Ratre and Mr. G.S. Mandavi, Chief Engineers of Bilaspur region and Mr. K.P. Sant, along with Executive Engineers and Sub-Divisional Officers of all the 9 divisions of Bilaspur region were also present in the meeting.
