- Six months of free residential training transform the paths of young athletes; 15 talented individuals selected from a group of 157 children
There is no shortage of talent in rural and tribal regions; what is needed is the provision of the right opportunities, resources, and guidance. Bringing this vision to life, an initiative by the Adani Foundation has opened new doors for six young archers from Chhattisgarh. Through an archery training program conducted as part of the Foundation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, these six athletes have been selected for prestigious state-level archery and sports training academies. Achieving this level of success after just six months of training marks a significant milestone in fostering rural sporting talent.

Launched in November 2025 in the village of Salhi, the program is managed by ‘Shree Services’ under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of ATMSL. A total of 157 children from various villages in the project area expressed interest in the archery training. Based on their aptitude, 15 children—comprising eight girls and seven boys—were selected. These athletes were provided with free residential training, modern sports equipment, technical instruction, and guidance from expert coaches.

The positive impact of this training became evident during a state-level selection trial held a few months ago at the Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Kota, Raipur. Five of the athletes were selected for the residential Archery Sports Academy at the State Archery Centre in Raipur—a facility operated under the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare of the Government of Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, one athlete secured a spot at the Late B.R. Yadav State Sports Training Centre in Bahatrai, Bilaspur. The selected players include Mahima Singh from Ghatbarra village, Anjali Kushro from Salhi village, Dileshwar Shyam from Basen village, Anshu Warkade from Hariharpur village, Satyam Tirkey from Tara village, and Priyanshu Vishwakarma from Fatehpur village.
The selection of these six players for prestigious sports institutions serves as proof that, given proper training, better resources, and consistent encouragement, children from rural and tribal areas can also establish a strong presence in the world of sports. Their selection for state-level academies will provide them with the opportunity to receive advanced training and develop their potential for high-level competitions.

A representative from the Adani Foundation stated that nurturing sports talent from rural and tribal regions is among their top priorities. The children have delivered impressive performances in a short span of time. The representative added that such efforts—aimed at providing opportunities and proper guidance to talented individuals—will continue in the future.
The Adani Foundation works toward the holistic development of communities through various initiatives in sectors such as education, health, livelihoods, women’s empowerment, sports, and community infrastructure. This achievement within the archery training program represents a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to provide opportunities to local talent and help them reach new heights.
