The state government is continuously raising awareness among farmers to promote organic farming in the agricultural sector. The Agriculture Department also conducts campaigns for organic farming from time to time. In this regard, the Agriculture Department is continuously making efforts to promote organic farming in the Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district. Model farmer farms using Jeevamrit have been developed in 160 out of the district’s 171 panchayats, and farmers from nearby and other villages are being taken on tours to educate them about the benefits of organic farming.
Practical training on the use of Jeevamrit and organic farming was conducted in the Gaurela development block. Agriculture department officials and farmers from various areas participated in the training. Farmers were provided information on Jeevamrit, soil testing, soil quality improvement, organic farming, and advanced agricultural practices. Farmers were also taken on a tour of the farm of Mr. Brijlal Rathore, a farmer from Gaurela, where Jeevamrit has been used in the mutant Vishnubhog rice crop. The crop, which was only 22 days old, began to blossom, show excellent growth, and was free of pests and diseases. Seeing the positive results from the use of Jeevamrit, farmers showed a strong interest in adopting organic farming.
