The Digital Crop Survey (DCS) campaign has been launched by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the Agri Stack scheme to collect accurate data on agricultural land and crops in the state of Chhattisgarh. Using a mobile app and satellite imagery, surveyors visit fields and upload crop photos to the app.
A major step has been taken in the Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh towards making the agriculture and revenue system more transparent, accurate and modern. Leaving behind the traditional manual Girdawari system in the district, the Digital Crop Survey (DCS) campaign has been launched. Under this ambitious campaign, which began on August 17, 2026, a total of 55,638 Khasra/plots in 176 villages of the district are being surveyed completely through digital means.
- Administrative alertness at ground zero
The administrative staff is fully engaged in ensuring that this campaign, being conducted under the Collector’s guidance, is completed within the deadline and without any errors. In this context, the Additional Collector and the officer in charge of land records conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing survey work at the field level. During the inspection, the officials directly interacted with the surveyors and supervisors to review the progress of the work. After understanding the practical and technical problems encountered on the spot, necessary guidelines were provided for their prompt resolution, ensuring that the survey’s pace remains uninterrupted.
- Timeline and Current Progress
The goal is to complete the digital crop survey across the entire district by September 30, 2026. The campaign has gained significant momentum in its initial days. To date, the digital survey of approximately 8,000 land plots has been successfully completed.
- Strong field arrangements and surveillance
To ensure timely and quality completion of the survey work, a comprehensive infrastructure has been established in the district. At the ground level, 160 surveyors are digitally entering accurate land records. 29 supervisors are ensuring verification and quality control of the surveyors’ work. 21 special officers from the Revenue and Agriculture departments have been assigned monitoring and regular inspections.
- Digital survey will change the picture
Digital crop survey will not only provide accurate and real data of crops but will also enable farmers to avail the benefits of government schemes, crop insurance, relief amount and Minimum Support Price (MSP) in a transparent manner without any hindrance. With the strict stand of the officials and the activeness of the field staff, it is clear that Narayanpur district is rapidly moving towards achieving its target of 100% digital crop survey before the stipulated deadline of 30th September.
