- Six member offices were honored with the Official Language Shield and Official Language Trophy.
The first half-yearly meeting of the City Official Language Implementation Committee, Bilaspur, for the year 2026-27 was held today, August 27, 2026, under the chairmanship of Mr. Tarun Prakash, General Manager, South East Central Railway, Bilaspur, in the Zonal Conference Hall of the General Manager’s Office.
On this occasion, Mr. Bijay Kumar, Vice Chairman of the Committee and Chief Official Language Officer and Principal Chief Commercial Manager, welcomed Mr. Tarun Prakash, Chairman and General Manager, South East Central Railway, Bilaspur, and the heads and representatives of the central offices, undertakings, and corporations located in Bilaspur city.
A total of 38 member offices from central offices, undertakings, and corporations located in Bilaspur city attended this meeting, which was held to review the official language progress from October 2025 to March 2026. The meeting discussed the issues in detail as per the agenda set by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs. On this occasion, the Chairman and General Manager presented the first prize in the Nagar Rajbhasha Shield Competition-2025 in the small office category to the Railway Recruitment Board, Bilaspur, the second prize to the Meteorological Centre, Bilaspur, the first prize in the medium office category to the Post Office, Bilaspur, the second prize to the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization, Bilaspur, and the first prize to the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Bilaspur, and the second prize to the NTPC, Bilaspur, in the large office category.
In his address, Mr. Tarun Prakash, Chairman and General Manager, South East Central Railway, Bilaspur, congratulated the six member offices for their outstanding work in the field of official language implementation on receiving the Official Language Shield and Official Language Trophy. He stated that Hindi is the official language of India and it is essential to use it more extensively in government work. He urged all member offices to fulfill their constitutional obligations and increase the use of the official language, Hindi, in their offices. Mr. Prakash further stated that the Official Language Fortnight will be celebrated at the NARAKAS Secretariat from September 14, 2026, to September 28, 2026. All member offices should encourage their officers and employees to participate in the competitions. He expressed confidence that all member offices will actively cooperate to make the City Official Language Implementation Committee, Bilaspur (Office) a model committee.
On this occasion, Mr. Bijay Kumar, Vice President/NARAKAS and Principal Chief Commercial Manager, stated that this year, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language, is organizing Hindi Day and the Sixth All India Official Language Conference on September 14 and 15, 2026, at the CIDCO Exhibition Center, Navi Mumbai. He directed all offices to celebrate the Hindi Fortnight/Month with great enthusiasm. He further stated that in the first meeting of the year 2025-26, the Deputy Director (Implementation), Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language, Bhopal, had requested an increase in the number of awards to be given in the Nagar Rajbhasha Shield Competition. In light of this, the number of awards has been increased, and the Bank and Insurance category offices of the Committee have been separated to form NARAKAS (Bank). Three categories have been established for awarding awards in the Nagar Rajbhasha Shield Competition: offices with 1 to 10 employees are classified as small offices, offices with 11 to 50 employees are classified as medium offices, and offices with more than 50 employees are classified as large offices. He heartily congratulated the offices that received awards in these three categories. He also urged all member offices to submit works by their officers, employees, and their family members for publication in the Committee’s magazine, “Nagar Jyoti.” He also instructed all members to create a positive environment for the official language Hindi in their offices and to increase work in Hindi.
The agenda for the meeting was presented by Mr. Bijay Kumar, Vice President and Chief Official Language Officer, South Eastern Railway, Bilaspur. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Pitambar Lal Jatwar, Secretary and Official Language Officer (Headquarters), expressed his gratitude to all members, including the Chairman, and thanked them.
