Education is the foundation of progress for the individual, society, and the nation. Education is essential for advancement in every aspect of life, and the role of the teacher is paramount in this entire process. Teachers do not merely impart textbook knowledge; they mold personalities, instill values, provide the right direction, and—through their students—lay a strong foundation for the bright future of society and the nation. Chief Minister Shri Sai made these remarks while addressing the district-level ceremony held at the Basic School ground in Bemetara to honor teachers and meritorious students.
At the ceremony, Chief Minister Shri Sai honored 81 retired teachers from the district by presenting them with a shawl, a coconut (shrifal), a memento, and a citation. On this occasion, 42 meritorious students from the district who excelled in board and college examinations were also honored with gold medals and certificates by various social organizations.
Extending his congratulations and best wishes to the honored teachers and students, the Chief Minister remarked that our country has a glorious tradition of respecting the Guru (teacher). Teachers shape generations through their knowledge, experience, and values. The impact of the education imparted by a teacher is not limited to a single student; it extends to their family, society, and future generations. That is why teachers are called nation-builders.
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that education is the light of knowledge that dispels the darkness of ignorance. Education fosters self-confidence and decision-making abilities in individuals while making them aware of their rights and duties. It is educated and cultured citizens who build an empowered society and a developed nation.
He noted that India has been a land of knowledge and education since ancient times. Students from across the globe used to travel to world-renowned centers of learning like Takshashila and Nalanda to acquire knowledge. This rich tradition of knowledge continues to inspire us today. In an era of changing times and new technologies, the nature of education is also evolving rapidly. Consequently, it is essential to provide children with quality, modern education and prepare them to meet future demands.
- Our Pledge: Quality Education and Equal Opportunities for Every Child
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the state government is focusing heavily on quality education alongside the expansion of infrastructure and modern facilities in the education sector. We strive to ensure that no child in Chhattisgarh is left behind due to a lack of resources or opportunities. Whether in rural or urban areas, and regardless of whether a family is poor or affluent, every child should have equal opportunities to hone their talents, receive a good education, and realize their dreams.
He mentioned that prestigious national-level institutions—such as IIT, IIM, AIIMS, and IIIT—have been established in Chhattisgarh for higher and technical education. This has created new avenues for quality higher education for the state’s youth.
The Chief Minister added that facilities like the ‘Nalanda Campus’ are being expanded to provide a conducive environment and resources for youth preparing for competitive examinations. Students there are provided with excellent libraries, study materials, and necessary academic amenities. Facilities for competitive exam preparation have also been made available for Chhattisgarh’s students in New Delhi.
He emphasized that the state government is supporting students through scholarships, education loans, and various incentive schemes to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder the education or dreams of talented students. Our objective is not merely to produce educated youth, but to nurture confident, skilled, and capable individuals who can play a pivotal role in building a developed Chhattisgarh and a developed India. Bemetara Receives ‘Gaurav Path’ and Electricity Sub-station
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai made two significant announcements for the development of Bemetara district. He announced the sanction of ₹2 crore for the construction of a ‘Gaurav Path’ (prestige road) in Bemetara city and the establishment of a new electricity sub-station in Gram Panchayat Tivariya.
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the state government is continuously working to expand not only education but also roads, electricity, drinking water, and other basic amenities across the state. Developing better infrastructure in both urban and rural areas will accelerate the pace of development and make life more convenient for citizens.
- Recognition for Remarkable Work under the “Mor Gaon Mor Pani” Campaign
At the ceremony, the efforts undertaken for water conservation and the improvement of groundwater levels under the “Mor Gaon Mor Pani” (My Village, My Water) mega-campaign were acknowledged.Notable achievements were also recognized. The Janpad Panchayats of Bemetara, Berla, and Nawagarh were specially honored for their efforts in transitioning Bemetara district from a ‘critical zone’ to a ‘semi-critical zone’ regarding groundwater status.
Describing water conservation as a matter concerning future generations, Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that conserving every drop of water is our collective responsibility. Significant changes become possible when public participation complements government efforts. He commended the initiatives undertaken in the district in the field of water conservation.
During the ceremony, the magazine “Shikshak Smriti” (Teacher’s Memory), published by enlightened citizens and social organizations, was also released.
- Positive changes in people’s lives through public welfare and good governance
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the state government is working with commitment towards the welfare of every section of society—including the poor, farmers, women, and the youth—alongside its focus on education. The dream of permanent housing for needy families is being realized through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The Mahtari Vandan Yojana has provided financial support to women. Meanwhile, the use of technology is making government services more transparent, accessible, and citizen-centric.
He noted that efforts are being made to bridge the gap between the government and citizens through initiatives such as the Atal Monitoring Portal, Seva Setu, and the Chief Minister’s Helpline. The government’s goal is to ensure that the benefits of schemes and services reach the last person in the queue easily and in a timely manner.
The Chief Minister remarked that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country is moving forward with the resolve to achieve a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). Chhattisgarh will play a pivotal role in building a developed India, and the strong foundation of a developed Chhattisgarh will be laid through quality education, a skilled workforce, and empowered villages and cities.
Highlighting the occasion of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life, Chief Minister Shri Sai called upon the people of the state to light a lamp in their homes on the evening of September 17th, thereby reinforcing the resolve for service, development, and public welfare. Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao stated that the Guru (teacher) has always held the supreme position in the Indian tradition of knowledge. Teachers dispel the darkness of ignorance, spread the light of knowledge, and guide the new generation in the right direction. They shape not only the future of the individual student but also that of society and the nation.
Extending his best wishes to the honored teachers, he remarked that their knowledge, experience, and guidance constitute an invaluable legacy for future generations.
- Values are as Essential as Education: Minister Shri Dayal Das Baghel
Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection, Shri Dayal Das Baghel, stated that education instills self-confidence and the drive to progress in a person’s life. Beyond imparting academic knowledge, teachers play a pivotal role in molding students into responsible citizens grounded in good values. He noted that teachers shape children’s futures by spreading the light of knowledge, much like a lamp.
