During a campaign celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life and his spirit of “Seva Sankalp,” Mrs. Punita Rajwade of Surajpur district shared her experience of the benefits she received under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). She explained that the government’s financial assistance of ₹5,000 during her pregnancy proved a valuable support for her and her family. The funds provided by the scheme provided her with nutrition and other essential needs, and also helped her family care for her child after birth.

During these times, financial assistance from government schemes provides a vital support for women and their families. The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) aims to support pregnant and lactating women by providing them financial assistance to meet their nutritional and health needs.
Mrs. Punita explains that she received the first installment of 3,000 rupees under the scheme. This amount covered her nutritional needs and her basic needs. She then received a second installment of 2,000 rupees, which helped her family meet childcare needs. Punita says, “The financial assistance from the government was very useful for my family during this crucial time of motherhood. It helped me meet my and my child’s needs.”
She explains that the process of receiving benefits under the scheme was simple and transparent, as the assistance amount was directly transferred to her bank account through DBT. This financial assistance, received at a time of need, provided relief to the family from the expenses associated with pregnancy and childcare.

Through the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, pregnant and lactating women are being provided financial assistance to support their nutritional, health, and maternal needs. So far, 3,206 pregnant mothers in Surajpur district have benefited from the scheme. As per the established provisions, the assistance amount is transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible women through DBT.
