Deputy Chief Minister and Kawardha MLA Shri Vijay Sharma extended his best wishes to the students for their new academic journey. He remarked that while they had set a lofty goal and dreamed of becoming doctors, becoming a doctor should not be the ultimate objective. A goal is not merely a milestone but a journey of continuous progress. Our aim should not just be to become doctors, but to use that role to do good work for society.
Today marks a historic day in the history of medical education in Kabirdham district, as the first academic session and classes for the first batch commenced at the Government Medical College, Kawardha. On this historic occasion, Deputy Chief Minister and Kawardha MLA Shri Vijay Sharma and MP Shri Santosh Pandey welcomed the newly admitted students by presenting them with aprons, stethoscopes, pens, and roses. The students embarked on their new academic life with great enthusiasm. On this inaugural day in the college’s history, the students shared their stories of struggle, preparation, and dreams with the guests.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma emphasized the importance of maintaining a spirit of service towards the families and society that provided the students with the opportunity to advance. He urged the students to study diligently and persist in preparing for their goals, noting that they should avoid unnecessary stress during their studies. He remarked that success is not the result of a single individual’s effort but is achieved through the collective endeavors of the family and others. He inspired the students to become excellent doctors and serve society.
Extending his best wishes to the students, MP Shri Santosh Pandey noted that the launch of the first batch at the Kawardha Medical College was made possible through collective efforts. He highlighted the pivotal role played by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership in expanding medical education and healthcare facilities across the country. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, efforts are underway to expand facilities in the education and health sectors in Chhattisgarh.
Collector Smt. Tulika Prajapati remarked that while the students have succeeded in reaching this milestone through hard work, this is not the end, but rather a beginning. She noted that when a person visits a doctor, they do so with the hope of recovery; therefore, a spirit of service and sensitivity should be paramount in the medical field.

On the occasion of the commencement of the first batch, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma engaged in a heartfelt interaction with the students. He inquired about their preparation, study routines, coaching experiences, and the entrance examination. The students openly shared their preparation strategies and success stories; some prepared via online coaching, while others relied on self-study in libraries.
- Father never let me lose hope
During the interaction, Atithi Dewangan, a resident of Rajnandgaon, shared that she succeeded in her second attempt. She mentioned that her father never let her lose hope; instead, he encouraged her to identify and correct her mistakes and to persist in her efforts. Meanwhile, Bhupendra Singh prepared through online coaching, whereas Akash Dhurve from Dharampura (Kawardha) achieved success through self-study in a library. Harshita, a resident of Bhilai, succeeded in her third attempt. The father of Anshita Singh (also from Bhilai) explained that he supported his daughter’s preparation by providing guidance and assisting with mock tests. He added that the conducive academic environment in Bhilai also aided her preparation.
The Deputy Chief Minister also asked the students about their daily study hours and the extent to which they used books versus digital screens. The students reported studying for approximately 8 hours using books and 3 to 4 hours via digital screens. One student mentioned a 50-50 ratio between book-based and screen-based study. Due to online classes, some students had to study on screens for 7 to 8 hours daily. During the interaction, the Deputy Chief Minister also inquired about their experiences regarding the entrance examination. The students shared their experiences regarding the difficulty level of the exam, the challenges faced during preparation, and their journey to success. Public representatives and doctors—including Shri Rajendra Chandravanshi, Zila Panchayat Vice-President Kailash Chandravanshi, Dean Dr. Pratibha Jain Shah, and CMHO Dr. Devendra Ture—were present on the occasion.
