- Emphasis on developing Vananchal Science Centre by linking it with the biodiversity, natural wealth and traditional knowledge of the district.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force, Chhattisgarh, Shri Arun Pandey, during his two-day visit to Jashpur Forest Division on September 15 and 16, took stock of forest and wildlife conservation works, field activities, and preparations for the construction of the proposed Vananchal Science Centre. He visited various forest areas, interacted with field staff, reviewed departmental work, and directed them to ensure effective and priority forest and wildlife conservation.
- Meeting with forest staff at Tapkara, emphasis on continuous monitoring
On September 15, Shri Arun Pandey visited the Tapkara forest range. During this, he held a meeting with the officers and employees and took information about forest conservation, wildlife management and other departmental activities being carried out in the area.
Giving top priority to the protection of forests and wildlife at the field level, he instructed them to keep continuous vigil in their respective areas, monitor the activities of wildlife and work by establishing better coordination with the local community. He also stressed on completing the departmental schemes and works in a quality manner within the stipulated time frame and ensuring their effective implementation as per the intention of the government.
- Review of forest conservation and wildlife management works in Pandrapat
After this, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Forest Force Chief inspected Pandrapat under Sanna Forest Range. He took stock of the conditions of the area and the works being carried out by the Forest Department. In the meeting held with the forest staff, various field activities including forest conservation, wildlife conservation, forest fire control, plantation were reviewed.
Mr. Pandey instructed the officers and employees to make the departmental activities effective as per the regional needs and to work with continuous activeness for the protection of forest wealth and wildlife.
- Inspection of the site of the proposed Vananchal Science Centre in Jhargaon
On 16th September, Shri Arun Pandey inspected the site selected for the proposed Vananchal Science Centre in village Jhargaon under Jashpur forest range. He took information from the officials about the geographical location of the site, access road, available land, surrounding area and the proposed use and development possibilities of the centre.
He said that the proposed Vananchal Science Centre should be developed by linking it with the unique natural and forest wealth, local flora, biodiversity and environmental features of Jashpur, so that it can become an important centre for educational activities as well as for understanding and preserving the natural heritage and local knowledge of the region.
- Detailed discussion on the concept and infrastructure of the centre in the Forest Division Office
After site inspection, a detailed meeting was held in the auditorium of Forest Division Office Jashpur regarding the construction of Vananchal Science Centre. Various important topics including the concept of the centre, site development, infrastructure, thematic exhibition, educational activities, biodiversity conservation and inclusion of local forest resources and traditional knowledge were discussed in
the meeting. Various aspects of developing the centre in accordance with the local natural environment and biodiversity, linking its subject matter with the specificities of the area and making it useful from the point of view of knowledge, awareness and environmental conservation were discussed in the meeting.
- In the meeting attended by Forest Department and experts
Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Dilraj Prabhakar, Divisional Forest Officer Jashpur Mr. Shashi Kumar, Deputy Divisional Forest Officer Jashpur Mr. Karan Singh, Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) Mr. Vishwas Rao Mahske, Kalyan Ashram General Secretary Mr. Yogesh Bapat and other departmental officers were present.
During the two-day stay, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Forest Force Chief directly interacted with the field staff of the Forest Department, inquired about the regional conditions and provided necessary guidelines to make the works related to forest and wildlife conservation more effective.
