Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal has extended his congratulations and best wishes to the director, producer, and the entire team of the documentary film ‘Ram-Nami’ after it received the prestigious ‘Best Documentary’ award at the 72nd National Film Awards. The film is based on the unique traditions and cultural identity of the Ram-Nami community.
Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal stated that the ‘Ram-Nami’ film winning a National Film Award is a matter of immense pride and joy for Chhattisgarh. This honor is not merely an award for an outstanding documentary film; it also represents significant national recognition for Chhattisgarh’s folk traditions, cultural values, spiritual consciousness, and a heritage preserved across generations.
He remarked that the tradition of the Ram-Nami community is a distinctive example of Chhattisgarh’s cultural diversity. Through their unique faith, traditions, and values, the Ram-Nami community has contributed significantly to enriching the state’s folk culture. The ‘Ram-Nami’ documentary has effectively brought this unique cultural tradition to a wide audience across the country.
Appreciating the creative efforts of director Shri Bharatbala Ganapathy and the entire team, Shri Agrawal said that bringing a folk tradition to a national platform through a sensitive and impactful cinematic presentation is a significant achievement in itself. Every artist, technical expert, producer, and collaborator associated with the film shares in this honor.
He noted that Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage is vast and diverse. The state’s folk arts, folk songs, folk dances, tribal traditions, religious beliefs, and centuries-old cultural practices define its unique identity. The national honor bestowed upon ‘Ram-Nami’ is also a significant milestone in showcasing these rich traditions to the nation and the world.

It is noteworthy that ‘Ram-nami’ has been selected as the Best Documentary in the Hindi language at the 72nd National Film Awards, announced for films from the year 2024. The film is produced by BBP Studio Virtual Bharat Private Limited and directed by Shri Bharatbala Ganapathi.
