Assistance linked to livelihood activities under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana 2.0 is becoming a source of additional income for rural farmers. Shri Om Prakash Yadav, a resident of Sanna village in the Bagicha development block of Jashpur district, transformed his traditional animal husbandry practice into a source of income by purchasing a high-yield breed cow with the assistance received under the scheme. He has earned over ₹40,000 in additional income from selling milk so far.
Om Prakash Yadav was already rearing cows, but milk production was limited as he did not own a high-yield breed. Most of the milk was consumed to meet the family’s needs, leaving little scope for generating regular additional income from animal husbandry.
- High-Yield Breed Cow Purchased with ₹56,000 Assistance
Under the ‘Production System’ component of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana 2.0—implemented by the Department of Agriculture Development, Farmers’ Welfare, and Biotechnology—Om Prakash Yadav was granted ₹56,000 in financial aid for cow rearing. He used this amount to purchase a high-yield breed cow and developed animal husbandry into a structured livelihood activity.
With the arrival of the high-yield breed cow, he now obtains 6 to 8 liters of milk daily. After meeting the family’s requirements, the surplus milk is sold. This has generated an additional income of over ₹40,000 for him to date.
- Income from Milk, Savings in Farming via Organic Manure
Om Prakash is reaping dual benefits from animal husbandry. While the sale of milk generates regular additional income, the organic manure obtained from cow dung is being utilized in farming. This has also reduced the expenditure on external fertilizers. The combination of extra income and savings on farming costs has strengthened the family’s financial position.

After receiving financial assistance of ₹56,000 under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana 2.0, I purchased a cow of an improved breed. Now, I get 6 to 8 liters of milk daily and earn extra income every month. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for this.”
