To convey the message of keeping the city clean and beautiful, a diverse group—ranging from public representatives and administrative officials to the Municipal Corporation team, ‘Green Army,’ voluntary and social organizations, and ordinary citizens—came together for voluntary labor (shramdaan) under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ (Cleanliness is Service) and ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ campaigns. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Urban Administration and Development, Shri Arun Saw, personally participated in the campaign and administered the cleanliness pledge to the people. He stated that cleanliness cannot be limited to a mere campaign; it must become a habit in daily life—only then will our cities become clean, beautiful, and healthy.
The campaign was held at Maharajbandh Pond in the Mathpara area of Raipur. Alongside Deputy Chief Minister Shri Saw, the event was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Lakshmi Verma; MLAs Shri Sunil Soni, Shri Motilal Sahu, and Shri Purandar Mishra; Mayor Smt. Meenal Chaubey; Mahant Ramsundar Das; Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh; Municipal Commissioner Shri Sambit Mishra; District Panchayat CEO Shri Kumar Bishwaranjan; and SUDA CEO Shri Sumit Agrawal, among other public representatives, officials, and a large number of citizens.
During the voluntary labor session, everyone worked together to clear garbage and debris from the Maharajbandh Pond premises. People were encouraged to keep ponds and water bodies clean, with a strong message against dumping waste into the pond and an emphasis on maintaining cleanliness in public spaces. The campaign conveyed the message that city cleanliness should not be viewed solely as the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation or sanitation workers, but should be advanced through public participation.
While administering the cleanliness pledge to the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Saw called upon everyone to make cleanliness a part of their lifestyle. He remarked that efforts toward cleanliness would only be sustainable and effective if every citizen made maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings a personal habit and responsibility. Active participation by citizens is essential, alongside the government’s continuous efforts, to keep the city clean and beautiful.
During the event, five sanitation workers—Shri Ramesh Sona, Shri Avadhesh Soni, Shri Ghana Kurre, Shri Amit Dhivar, and Shri Rahul Rajput—were felicitated. The guests commended the work of these sanitation workers and highlighted their crucial role in maintaining the city’s cleanliness.
MLA Shri Sunil Soni urged a greater number of people to join cleanliness drives with a spirit of service, participation, and social responsibility. The guests also conveyed a message of environmental conservation by planting saplings. Linking environmental protection with cleanliness, the participants pledged to make the city clean, beautiful, and green. The voluntary labor (shramdaan) undertaken at Maharajbandh Pond—featuring the participation of public representatives, the administration, the Municipal Corporation, the Green Army, voluntary organizations, and ordinary citizens—sent a strong message regarding collective responsibility and public participation in cleanliness efforts.
