Youth Convey Message of Wildlife Conservation Through Art and Creativity

  • Wildlife Week Concludes; Students Demonstrate Environmental Awareness Through Artistic and Creative Activities

Young talents who conveyed the message of wildlife conservation were awarded on Thursday at the Dandakaranya Auditorium in Aranya Bhavan, Naya Raipur. Students who won various art and knowledge-based competitions were honored during the ceremony marking the conclusion of Wildlife Week.

Under the guidance of Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, the Department of Forest and Climate Change and the Raipur Forest Division—in collaboration with the ‘Green Group’ and the Department of Zoology at Kalinga University—celebrated Wildlife Week from October 2 to 8.

Centered on the theme “Connecting Natural Habitats, Flourishing Wildlife,” the week-long event allowed students to understand the importance of nature and biodiversity conservation through various activities. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, Shri Arun Kumar Pandey, was present at the event.

Throughout the week, students participated in activities such as creating paper models and bird nest replicas, making seed balls, wildlife photography, and nature walks. These activities served to raise awareness among them regarding the conservation of wildlife and their natural habitats.

In the short film-making competition, Devesh Minj, Siddhant Nagpure, and Varsha Sahu from Kalinga University secured the first, second, and third positions, respectively. In the essay competition, Shreya Sahu (Kendriya Vidyalaya), Shailya Sahu (Government Higher Secondary School, Uparwara), and Akash Das (PM SHRI Swami Atmanand Vidyalaya, Mana Camp) secured the top three spots.

Consolation prizes were awarded to Hema (PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mana Camp) and Deepika Sahu (Government Higher Secondary School, Ganod). The competitions and nature-based activities held during Wildlife Week provided students with an opportunity to engage with environmental conservation and understand their responsibility towards biodiversity.
