A high-level review meeting, chaired by the Secretary, Railway Board, was held via video conferencing on October 8, 2026, to review and strengthen the progress of the ‘Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters 6’ (SCDPM-6) across Zonal Railways and units. Progress was reviewed against the campaign’s targets, with a focus on measurable outcomes and the timely disposal of pending matters. Indian Railways has set targets to clean 1,00,000 sites, free up 7,00,000 square feet of space, and generate ₹600 crore through scrap disposal. In line with this year’s focus, special emphasis has been placed on the “effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste” in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, and on scrap disposal under the General Financial Rules (GFR). Innovative methods, such as creating “Waste to Wonder” items, are also being identified for large-scale adoption.

The citizen-centric component of the campaign includes ‘Rail Jan Samvad’ (Rail Public Dialogue), featuring a dedicated platform—’Rail Jan Yuva Samvad’—to facilitate youth participation. ‘Rail Jan Samvad’ is scheduled to be held at all railway stations across the country on October 22, 2026.
