- ‘Started self-employment in the village with training and guidance’
Initiatives aimed at connecting rural families with self-employment and increasing local income opportunities are helping people become self-reliant. With training and guidance under the Parliamentary Cluster Development Project, Mr. Shivkumar, a resident of village Dhauli in Ramchandrapur development block of Balrampur district, began poultry and goat rearing. Today, he earns an additional income of 10,000 to 15,000 rupees per month. Meeting his
family’s needs with his limited income was initially challenging. During this time, he learned about the Parliamentary Cluster Development Project. Through the project, he received training in poultry and goat rearing. The training provided information on animal care, nutrition, disease prevention, and better management.
Applying his learnings, Mr. Shivkumar began animal husbandry in his village. With hard work and regular care, his work flourished, and the income provided financial support for his family. Now, he is able to contribute to household needs as well as his children’s education.
Mr. Shivkumar’s initiative demonstrates that with training and proper guidance, self-employment opportunities can be created at the local level. Their success is inspiring others in the village to adopt poultry and goat rearing as a livelihood. Such efforts, under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, are helping rural families become self-reliant and increase their incomes.
