Mega Health Camp Organized in Mongragahan, Dhamtari District

  • 641 Villagers Receive Free Treatment; Spectacles Distributed to 51 Beneficiaries

A one-day, large-scale, free mega health camp was successfully organized in the village of Mongragahan as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Commitment Campaign), launched to mark the completion of 25 years of public service by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Held under the guidance of the Dhamtari Collector, the Chief Medical and Health Officer, and the District Program Manager—and organized by the Gujra Community Health Centre—the camp saw 641 local villagers register to receive free check-ups, consultations, treatment, and medication from specialist doctors.

The camp was inaugurated by the President of the Dhamtari Zila Panchayat. The event was attended by several local public representatives, including the Chairperson of the Zila Panchayat’s Health Committee, members of the Janpad Panchayat, the Sarpanchs of Mongragahan and Kodegaon, the Vice-President of the Minority Morcha, and the General Secretary of the Gangrel unit, alongside a large number of villagers.

Addressing the gathering, the Dhamtari Zila Panchayat President emphasized that extending healthcare facilities to every village is essential for building a healthy society. He explained that the core objective of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ is to ensure that the benefits of the government’s public welfare schemes and services reach the last person in line. Such mega camps in rural areas allow residents to access specialist medical consultations close to home, facilitating the timely detection and treatment of serious illnesses. He urged the villagers not to delay medical care due to financial or geographical constraints, to undergo regular health check-ups, and to remain vigilant against diseases like tuberculosis (TB) by maintaining good hygiene and adopting a balanced lifestyle.

During the camp, specialists from various medical fields provided their services. A total of 220 patients received care through general health screenings. Among the 120 patients who underwent eye examinations, 51 individuals in need were provided with free spectacles on the spot. Additionally, thorough examinations were conducted for 83 dental patients, 81 Ayurveda patients, 76 gynecology patients, 68 ENT (ear, nose, and throat) patients, 63 orthopaedic patients, and 50 paediatric patients, all of whom received necessary medical advice.

To facilitate access for the villagers, pathology testing services were set up directly at the camp site. This included blood sugar tests for 109 patients, haemoglobin tests for 102, sickling tests for 100, malaria tests for 15, blood group testing for 10, and VDRL tests for 10 patients. Two patients tested positive for the sickle cell trait and were provided with guidance for further treatment and care. Furthermore, the blood pressure (BP) of 315 patients was checked, and they were advised on adopting a healthy lifestyle.

  • Recognition for Outstanding Work and TB-Free Panchayats

During the event, the Sarpanchs of Gram Panchayats Mongragahan and Araud Duban—both declared TB-free—were honoured with a commemorative statuette of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Six ‘Mitanins’ (community health volunteers) who provided exceptional healthcare services were presented with certificates of appreciation. Additionally, two TB patients received nutritional food baskets, and five villagers were provided with Ayushman cards.

  • Commendable Contribution by the Health Department Team

The entire health department team—including orthopaedic specialists, the Block Medical Officer, the Block Programme Manager, the Block Training Officer, and rural medical assistants—made a commendable and significant contribution toward the success of this event.
