To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, through its Centre for WTO & WIPO Studies, School of Law & Technology, in collaboration with the UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RCAP), is organizing an International Symposium on “Access to Credit for MSMEs: Secured Transactions, Trade Finance, and UNCITRAL Model Laws” on 8 December 2026, as part of UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Days-2026 . The symposium will be held in online mode.

UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Days is an annual flagship academic series initiated in 2014 by the Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law to commemorate the December 1966 United Nations General Assembly resolution that established UNCITRAL.

The symposium aims to understand how modern secured transaction frameworks can help address the financing gap for MSMEs. It will also consider the challenges posed by cross-border trade, digitization, and the changing nature of commercial collateral. The symposium will also analyze UNCITRAL’s legislative and policy initiatives in the broader context of MSME finance, trade facilitation, digital commerce, and cross-border dispute resolution.

The symposium will feature an opening ceremony, a panel discussion on “The Future of MSME Finance: UNCITRAL Frameworks, Cross-Border Trade and Emerging Challenges” , and technical sessions for paper presentations.

Academicians, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, industry and financial sector professionals, scholars and students from India and abroad are invited to this symposium.
