Registration of Ola Electric Vehicles Pending; Transport Department Issues Notice Over Failure to Apply for EV Subsidies

The Transport Department has taken a serious view of issues concerning the registration of Ola Electric vehicles and the processing of electric vehicle (EV) subsidies in Chhattisgarh. The registration of approximately 3,000 vehicles remains pending. Furthermore, applications for the government’s EV subsidy—available for a large number of these electric vehicles—have not been submitted. Consequently, the respective vehicle owners are facing difficulties in availing the benefits of the government’s subsidy scheme.

According to information from the Transport Commissioner’s office, the Transport Department has issued a notice to the company under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, citing the company’s failure to take necessary action and its negligence regarding registration and subsidy-related procedures. The company has been directed to present its side within a specified timeframe and provide necessary clarifications regarding the pending cases.

The Transport Department has emphasized that the timely completion of vehicle registration and subsidy-related processes is essential to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience and that eligible beneficiaries can access government schemes. Should the company fail to provide a satisfactory response within the stipulated timeframe, or if any violation of regulations is confirmed, appropriate legal action will be initiated against the company in accordance with the prevailing rules.
