Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today inaugurated a ‘Helmet Bank’ established by the Jashpur Police at the Jashpur Police Lines. Launched with the objective of preventing loss of life in road accidents and fostering awareness of traffic rules among citizens, this innovative initiative includes a stock of 1,000 helmets. Two-wheeler riders in need can obtain a helmet from this bank on a temporary basis.
Commending the Jashpur Police for this initiative, Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that road safety is a collective responsibility of every citizen. Adhering to traffic rules is not merely a legal obligation but is essential for the safety of individuals and their families. He appealed to citizens to ensure the use of helmets while riding two-wheelers and seat belts while traveling in four-wheelers.

The Chief Minister noted that many lives are lost in road accidents due to severe head injuries. Regular use of a helmet can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury or death in such accidents. He emphasized that a simple, cautious step can not only safeguard our own lives but also protect our families from irreparable loss. Therefore, every citizen should make road safety a part of their daily routine. Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the Jashpur Police’s ‘Helmet Bank’ is a commendable, public-interest initiative. Through this effort, citizens will be encouraged to follow traffic rules, while those in need will receive practical assistance. He expressed confidence that this initiative would play a significant role in raising public awareness about road safety and fostering a culture of safe travel within the district.
- Helmet Bank to Provide Support to Citizens in Need
The key feature of the Helmet Bank, operated by the Jashpur Police, is that it provides temporary access to helmets for citizens who may need to travel urgently but lack a helmet or the immediate financial means to purchase one. Once their task is complete, citizens are expected to return the helmet to the bank. Additionally, they are required to assist the police in a small task related to promoting road safety awareness.

Furthermore, the Jashpur Police are conducting a special drive against those riding two-wheelers without a helmet. Under this campaign, vehicles of riders found without helmets are being impounded; however, they are released without a fine once the owner presents a receipt for the purchase of a new helmet. The objective of this measure is not merely punitive, but rather to cultivate the habit of regular helmet use among citizens.
The Jashpur Police have pledged to ensure that every person traveling on a two-wheeler in the district wears a helmet. Launched with the message, “A helmet for every head—safe you, safe family,” this initiative seeks to integrate road safety with active public participation. Present on this occasion were Raigarh MP Shri Radheshyam Rathiya, Jashpur MLA Smt. Raimuni Bhagat, Pathalgaon MLA Smt.
