Farmers made aware about organic and natural farming and balanced fertilizer use

A farmer awareness and training program was organized today in the village panchayat of Padmi in the Saja development block of Bemetara district under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan-Rabi 2026 campaign, run by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management, Raipur. Twenty-five farmers from the village enthusiastically participated in the program.

During the program, scientists Dr. L.L. Kharbikar and Dr. Ajay Verma provided farmers with detailed information on modern, sustainable, and scientific agricultural practices. The scientists placed special emphasis on promoting organic and natural farming, preserving soil health, the balanced and appropriate use of fertilizers, and adopting environmentally friendly agricultural techniques.

Through technical lectures, farmers were told that adopting scientific agricultural practices is essential to maintaining soil fertility, reducing agricultural costs, and increasing the quality and sustainability of crop production. A direct dialogue was also organized between farmers and scientists, in which farmers shared their farming-related problems and queries and received useful suggestions from the scientists.
Mrs. Hemlata Sinha, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Padmi, was present at the event.

The Khet Bachao Abhiyan run by the institute aims to make farmers aware about soil health conservation, balanced nutrient management, natural and organic farming, water conservation and climate-friendly agricultural techniques, so that farming can be made more sustainable, profitable and environment-friendly.
