Under the guidance of Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Surekha Jamre and Civil Surgeon Dr. Manoj Khanna, and under the leadership of Dr. Amit Verma, District Nodal Officer and Kirat Singh Kawache, In-charge Epidemiologist, Madhuban School of Nursing Director, President Mr. Awadhesh Dave, and Director Mr. Ashok Tiwari, a comprehensive awareness and cancer screening program was organized at the District Hospital, Barwani, on the occasion of World Cancer Day on February 4, 2026. As part of the program, special emphasis was placed on the importance of early detection through cancer screenings and street plays for the public. Detailed information was provided to cancer patients and their families about the causes, symptoms, and the need for timely diagnosis and treatment. The camp specifically screened cervical cancer, breast cancer, and oral cancer. Fifty-five patients were screened and provided with necessary counseling and guidance for further testing. Citizens were also encouraged to adopt cancer prevention measures, abstain from tobacco, a balanced diet, and a healthy lifestyle. Director Mrs. Seema Verma and all the nursing staff including Dr. Darshan Chaukar, Ms. Sakshi Verma, Mr. Sandeep Rathod, Mr. Vikas Kewat, Ms. Asha Lachheta, Ms. Kavita Thakur and hospital staff were present in the program. Giving information, Civil Surgeon Dr. Manoj Khanna said that cancer tests, operations and chemotherapy treatment are available free of cost in District Hospital Barwani, so that needy patients can get timely and better treatment.
