Mrs. Rashmi Tirkey became ‘Lakhpati Didi’ by joining the Rural Livelihood Mission, rural women are becoming empowered through self-employment.

Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the women of the state are continuously moving towards self-reliance by joining various government schemes. Through the ambitious scheme of the state government, Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan), self-employment opportunities are being provided to the women of rural areas, due to which positive changes are being seen in their lives. In this sequence, Mrs. Rashmi Tirki, a resident of village Duldula of Duldula development block of Jashpur district, has also emerged as an inspiring example towards self-reliance.

Mrs. Rashmi Tirkey is an active member of the Durga Women’s Self-Help Group. Joining the self-help group has not only strengthened her financial situation but also given her self-confidence and social recognition. Today, she is known as “Lakhpati Didi” in her village and has become a source of inspiration for other women.

Mrs. Tirkey explains that previously, she was confined to household chores. Meeting household needs became difficult due to the family’s meager financial situation. During this time, she decided to join a women’s self-help group. After joining the group, she learned about various activities related to savings, credit, and self-employment. Seeing other women in the group earning income through various livelihood activities inspired her to try something new.

In July 2025, he received a loan of 70,000 rupees under the Mudra Scheme. Using this money, he started a fast food center in his village. Initially a small business, this business gradually grew. Currently, his fast food center generates sales of approximately 25,000 to 30,000 rupees per month.

With this income, Mrs. Rashmi Tirki is able to support her family and provide for her children’s education. She says that joining the self-help group has brought her financial stability and increased self-confidence. Today, she stands on her own two feet and serves as a strong support for her family.

Through the Rural Livelihood Mission, women in the district are being encouraged to pursue self-employment and are being provided with the benefits of various schemes to empower them economically. Through such efforts, women in rural areas are becoming self-reliant and playing a vital role in the progress of society and their families. Mrs. Rashmi Tirkey’s success is also becoming a source of inspiration for other women.
