‘Article on International Women’s Day’: Received 25th installment of Mahatari Vandan Yojana

To promote economic independence and improve the health and nutrition of women in the state, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai has implemented the Mahatari Vandan Yojana. The scheme aims to address social discrimination and inequality against women, improve their health, and promote their economic empowerment. Under this scheme, eligible married, widowed, and abandoned women are provided financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month.

Mrs. Bhuneshwari Baghel, a homemaker who runs a grocery store at home in the village of Benur in Narayanpur district, is a beneficiary of this scheme. She explained that previously, managing her children’s education and household expenses was difficult, but the Mahatari Vandan Yojana has brought positive changes to her life. Bhuneshwari says, “Every month, on the 1st of every month, I get ₹1,000 deposited into my account, which I use to pay for my children’s education, books, school uniforms, as well as purchase household items and supplies for my shop. Additionally, I opened a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account for my daughter’s future and make regular deposits. The Mahatari Vandan Yojana has reduced my financial struggles and secured my children’s future.” Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, she said, “This scheme has been a blessing for me. I hope such beneficial schemes continue to come in the future.”

  • A major contribution towards women empowerment

More than 70 lakh women of the state are benefiting from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, and in the district, an amount of more than 2 crore 50 lakh 52 thousand rupees is being transferred to the accounts of more than 27 thousand women every month. So far, Rs 65 crore 39 lakh 48 thousand 250 has been transferred to the accounts of women of the district. This scheme has improved the lives of women across Chhattisgarh, who were previously struggling with social and economic difficulties.
