- Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department reviews preparations for National Tribal Games
- Necessary instructions given to departments involved in the arrangements for the event, make all arrangements well in advance
- Players and officials from across the country will also get acquainted with the culture and tourist places of Chhattisgarh.
- 2500 players, coaches and officials from 30 states will participate
Yashwant Kumar, Secretary of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, reviewed the preparations for the Khelo India National Tribal Games, being hosted by Chhattisgarh for the first time in the country. He provided necessary guidelines to officials from various departments involved in the arrangements at a meeting held today at the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare located on the Science College campus in Raipur. He urged them to ensure all arrangements are in place within a reasonable timeframe.

Yashwant Kumar, Secretary of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, stated in the meeting that the Khelo India National Tribal Games is an event of national importance and Chhattisgarh’s prestige. All related arrangements must be precise, robust, and foolproof. He directed all departments to expedite work and ensure all preparations are completed within sufficient time. He directed that all sports venues identified for the event be prepared to meet international standards.
Departmental Secretary Mr. Kumar directed to deploy adequate number of staff at sports grounds, players’ accommodation, airport and railway station, so that players, coaches and officials arriving to participate in the event do not face any kind of problem. He asked the officials of the Culture and Tourism Department to make necessary arrangements for tourism along with providing information about the culture, archaeology and art of Chhattisgarh to the participants coming from different states to participate in the Tribal Games.

Keeping in view the participation of states with different languages in the event, Mr. Kumar directed to depute sufficient number of officers and employees familiar with those languages. Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Mrs. Tanuja Salam and Deputy Director, Mrs. Rashmi Thakur along with officials of Raipur District Administration, Urban Administration and Development Department, Scheduled Tribe Development Department, Transport, School Education, Higher Education, Culture, Tourism, Public Relations, Health Department, Akashvani and Doordarshan were present in the meeting. Officials from Ambikapur and Jagdalpur joined the meeting through video conferencing.
- National Tribal Games to be held in Raipur, Jagdalpur and Ambikapur from March 25 to April 3

Under the hosting of Chhattisgarh, competitions of 7 sports of National Tribal Games will be organized from 25 March to 3 April in Raipur, Jagdalpur and Ambikapur. Two other sports, Kabaddi and Mallakhamb have been included in it as demo. Hockey, football, swimming, weightlifting and archery competitions will be held in Raipur. Athletics competitions will be held in Jagdalpur and wrestling competitions in Ambikapur. In the demo sports, Kabaddi will be demonstrated in Raipur and Mallakhamb in Ambikapur. 2500 players, trainers and officials from 30 states will participate in the Khelo India National Tribal Games being held for the first time in the country.
