Service spirit is the key in efforts to treat patients: Governor Shri Patel

  • The Governor reviewed the Public Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH departments.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that serving the poor and needy is serving humanity. This provides self-satisfaction. Service should be paramount in efforts to make the state free of sickle cell and tuberculosis.   

Governor Patel was addressing a review meeting of the Public Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH departments at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday as part of the Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication 2047 and TB-Free India campaigns. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and AYUSH Minister Inder Singh Parmar were also present at the meeting, organized by the Tribal Cell in the Jawahar Khand auditorium.

Governor Shri Patel said that sickle cell patients should be properly informed about the facilities and eligibility provided under the Ayushman Scheme. Under the state-level sickle cell eradication program, individuals aged zero to 40 should be specifically screened. Informing the public at screening camps that treatment for sickle cell anemia is covered under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme is essential. He conducted a district-wise review of the treatment of sickle cell patients under the Ayushman Scheme.

  • Public representatives should actively cooperate in the distribution of nutritious food

Governor Shri Patel conducted a detailed review of the TB eradication program in the meeting. He said that the cooperation of local public representatives is extremely important to make the state TB-free. He said that public representatives, especially those from tribal areas, should actively cooperate in distributing nutritious food to TB patients. Governor Shri Patel conducted a district-wise review of the Nikshay Mitras. He directed to emphasize efforts to increase the distribution of nutritious food by adding more Nikshay Mitras in tribal areas.   

  • Intensive TB testing should be conducted in mining areas as well.

Governor Shri Patel also directed that TB tests be conducted for individuals living and working in mining areas. He reviewed in detail the sickle cell testing targets and achievement, distribution of genetic cards, availability of hydroxyurea, sickle cell management of pregnant mothers and infants, distribution of Ayushman cards to sickle cell patients, benefits of the Ayushman scheme, distribution of disability certificates, a 125-day sickle cell awareness campaign, etc. and issued necessary instructions.

Deputy Chief Minister and Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla directed to launch a special campaign for 100% progress of Ayushman Card, Sickle Cell and TB eradication programmes and to fulfil various parameters.

Governor Shri Patel was briefed in detail by Principal Secretary of AYUSH Department, Shri Shobhit Jain, about district-wise medicine distribution, door-to-door medicine distribution, testing, etc. programs. Shri Jain also informed about special efforts and innovations in medicine distribution in Scheduled Tribe dominated districts. Governor Shri Patel was informed by Dr. Saloni Sidana, Director of National Health Mission, about the achievements of National Tuberculosis Eradication Program, intensive screening, 100-day Nikshay Abhiyan, Nikshay Mitra, distribution of nutritious food, etc. She was also informed about TB testing, counseling, treatment, etc. of students in Scheduled Tribe hostels started as per the instructions of Governor Shri Patel.

Tribal Cell Chairman Mr. Deepak Khandekar, Additional Chief Secretary of Public Health Family Welfare Mr. Ashok Kumar Barnwal, Principal Secretary to the Governor Dr. Navneet Mohan Kothari, Tribal Cell Secretary Mrs. Meenakshi Singh, senior officers of Public Health Family Welfare and AYUSH Department and officials of Lok Bhavan were present in the meeting.
