- Governor Shri Ramen Deka held a meeting of block level officers in Saraipali.
- Encourage organic farming, add value to rice
Appreciating the works of water conservation, Governor Shri Ramen Deka directed to encourage farmers more and more for digging of ponds. It was told that 218 ponds have been approved in the development block and a large number of construction works have been completed, the Governor stressed on the need to give more speed. Governor Shri Deka, during his stay in Saraipali today, held a review meeting of development block level officers at the rest house. In the meeting, he took detailed information about the progress of various public welfare schemes and development works and gave necessary guidelines to the officers.

Emphasizing the need to conduct tree plantation as a mass movement, the Governor said that under the “One Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign, tree plantation should be done on a large scale. Large-scale tree plantation should be done under CAMPA and MNREGA funds, fruit-bearing and shade-giving trees should be planted in government buildings, rest house premises, and rural areas. The department informed that approximately 1.50 lakh trees have been planted in the area and green development is also being promoted around Amrit Sarovar. He directed to increase public participation in this.
While reviewing the agriculture sector, the Governor stressed the need to promote organic and natural farming, reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, and integrate horticultural crops with paddy. He directed efforts to increase farmers’ income through value addition of organic rice. During the review of the Swachh Bharat Mission, he directed to make door-to-door garbage collection effective, collect service charges from beneficiaries, and ensure regular cleaning and use of public toilets.
While reviewing the health department, the Governor inquired about TB patients and directed continuous monitoring of their treatment. He stressed the need to encourage capable individuals in the society to adopt TB patients, to join the Red Cross, and to organize awareness campaigns and camps for the treatment of breast cancer, cervical cancer, and cataracts. He also directed to coordinate with AIIMS to ensure better treatment.

Governor Mr. Deka, emphasizing the need to make yoga accessible to the masses, said that children should be encouraged to practice yoga from an early age, and regular training and classes should be conducted for this purpose. He directed the opening of more libraries and working towards creating “lakhpati didis” by connecting women’s self-help groups with livelihood activities.
Saraipali MLA Mrs. Chaturi Nand was also present at the meeting. On this occasion, Collector Mr. Vinay Langeh presented information on the progress of development works and major schemes being carried out in the district. Superintendent of Police Mr. Prabhat Kumar, District Panchayat CEO Mr. Hemant Nandanwar, Additional Collector Mr. Sachin Bhutada, SDM Mrs. Anupama Anand, along with block-level officials were present at the meeting.
