A better option for higher profits at lower costs

  • National Horticulture Mission is encouraging farmers, increasing income and employment opportunities

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, various schemes are being implemented in Chhattisgarh to increase farmers’ income and connect them with alternative livelihoods. Beekeeping is being promoted under the National Horticulture Mission and the State Plan. Under this scheme, 20 farmers in Jashpur district are being provided financial assistance.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries are provided with subsidies for beekeeping resources, including ₹1,600 for a colony with a bee box, ₹800 for a beehive, and ₹8,000 for a honey extractor. This initiative is helping farmers generate additional income at a low cost.

  • play an important role in increasing crop production

Bees are not limited to honey production, but also play a vital role in increasing crop yields through pollination. Pollination by bees significantly increases the yield of mustard, mango, litchi, guava, sunflower, coriander, and various vegetable crops. This makes agriculture more profitable and sustainable.

  • A powerful means of self-employment

Beekeeping is emerging as an effective means of self-employment for rural youth and women. With training, anyone can easily start this business. With high market demand for products like honey, wax, and royal jelly, they are creating sustainable sources of income.

  • Contribute to environmental protection

Bees play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity. Experts say that excessive use of pesticides is leading to a decline in bee populations, which is a concern for the environment. Therefore, promoting bee-friendly farming is essential.

  • Less investment, more profit

Beekeeping is a low-cost, high-profit business. A single bee box can produce honey multiple times a year. Using scientific techniques, proper management, and seasonal care, farmers can achieve improved production and higher incomes.
This initiative not only helps increase farmers’ incomes but also contributes significantly to strengthening the rural economy and maintaining environmental balance.
