Prepare practical and futuristic models for Universal Health Coverage and Sustainable Development Goals: Chief Secretary Shri Jain

  • A two-day joint consultation meeting will be held to discuss the roadmap for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

A joint consultation meeting was held in Bhopal for formulation and implementation of roadmap for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Shri Ashok Barnwal, Health Secretary of Chhattisgarh, senior officials of Central Government and both the states were present on the first day of the two-day high-level joint consultation meeting organized by the World Health Organization. Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh Shri Vikas Sheel joined virtually.

Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain stated that practical and forward-looking models will be developed through joint consultations with various experts, administrative officials, and other stakeholders. This will help develop a roadmap based on all components to ensure the Sustainable Development Goals and universal health coverage. He added that the suggestions received will be used to develop a roadmap and ensure its phased implementation in Madhya Pradesh.

The consultation meeting discussed in detail the strategic roadmap for strengthening health services in the states, ensuring access to quality and accessible health services, and achieving the SDG goals. Both states presented the current status of health services and indicators, as well as the action plan and improvements made over the past year. Representatives from the World Bank, World Health Organization, various medical colleges, development partners, Ashoka University, and Azim Premji University also participated in the joint consultation meeting.
