  • Water conservation will increase prosperity in villages
  • Farmers and villagers will get huge benefits from livelihood ponds and new drains.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today launched the Chhattisgarh government’s ambitious initiative, “More Village, More Water, More Taria Maha Abhiyan,” at the Ranjita Stadium in Jashpur. Under the campaign, the foundation stone was also laid for the construction of 500 new Tarias (ponds) in the state under the “Nava Taria, Aay Ke Jara” initiative. This will improve water harvesting, groundwater levels, and irrigation facilities for agricultural purposes. This campaign will lead to large-scale work toward water conservation, water enrichment, and strengthening rural livelihoods.

Under this mega campaign under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), a target was set to construct 10,000 livelihood ponds across the state, against which more than 13,000 ponds have been completed by April 15, 2026. This achievement reflects the speed and effectiveness of the campaign.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said on this occasion that water is the foundation of life and development. Through the “More Village, More Water, More Taria” campaign, we are making water conservation a mass movement in every village. This will not only increase water availability but also boost farmers’ incomes and strengthen the rural economy. He added that through Aajeevika Dabri, various livelihood activities such as fisheries, duck farming, water chestnut production, vegetable production, and tree plantation will be promoted in rural areas, providing additional income opportunities. To promote this scheme at the rural level, detailed information is being provided through wall writings, banners, awareness campaigns in Gram Sabhas, and QR codes. Extensive publicity is also being done through social media platforms. To promote women’s empowerment, the participation of women from self-help groups has been ensured in the activities related to Aajeevika Dabri. The names of female members of beneficiary families are being displayed on the Citizen Information Board, strengthening women’s empowerment and participation.

Under this, works are being approved based on advanced technology-based planning and approval of the Gram Sabha, thereby ensuring transparency and effective monitoring. Through community participation, this campaign will work towards the overall development of Gram Panchayats and give a new direction to the rural economy. The “More Village, More Water, More Taria” Maha Abhiyan is emerging as a historic initiative towards bringing permanent change in the lives of villagers by making water conservation a mass movement in the entire state including Jashpur.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Chairman Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Board Shri Rampratap Singh, MLA Pathalgaon Smt. Gomti Sai, Jashpur MLA Smt. Raimuni Bhagat and a large number of dignitaries were present.
