Following the directives of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and under the guidance of District Collector Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh, the Raipur district administration has been actively implementing ‘Project Punarjeevan’—a popular, eco-friendly initiative. This action was accelerated after the Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ramen Deka, expressed deep concern regarding environmental conservation. Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Shri Sambit Mishra, all 10 Zonal Commissioners conducted continuous monitoring and daily inspections across the wards in their respective zones. They identified plants that were previously unable to grow naturally due to being confined by tree guards and concrete enclosures or pavers.
To facilitate natural growth and ensure access to soil and water in an eco-friendly environment, the task of removing these restrictive tree guards and concrete structures was carried out rapidly across all 10 zones of the Raipur Municipal Corporation, prioritizing environmental safety and the public interest. To protect the environment for the public good, these identified plants—previously surrounded by concrete paver enclosures—are being freed from such constraints; so far, approximately 2,302 tree guards and 571 concrete paver enclosures have been rapidly removed by the respective Zonal Commissioners.
This campaign is progressing steadily across the Raipur Municipal Corporation area. Under the constant supervision of Zonal Commissioners across all 10 zones, priority is being given to creating an eco-friendly environment that allows these plants to thrive naturally and access necessary water.
Mr. Sambit Mishra, Commissioner of the Raipur Municipal Corporation, has prioritized this initiative and issued clear directives to all Zonal Commissioners to execute these environmental conservation efforts for the benefit of society.
Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh, District Collector of Raipur, has made a humble appeal on behalf of the district administration to all residents of the capital city, urging them to actively participate in nurturing these plants by providing necessary water, manure, and care.
Citizens who demonstrate such environmental commitment will be honored as “Friends of the Environment” (Paryavaran Mitra) by the Raipur district administration under the eco-friendly “Project Punarjeevan” (Revival Scheme) in recognition of their contribution to environmental welfare.
Municipal Commissioner Mr. Sambit Mishra is personally monitoring these eco-friendly activities daily, and the progress is being continuously reviewed under the instructions of District Collector Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh.
