  • Mobile forensic vans will conduct scientific investigations at the scene itself.

Based on the theme ‘Science on Wheels – Towards Faster Justice’, 32 mobile forensic vans will give a new direction to crime investigation in the state. Launched with the objective of “32 Vans – 32 Districts – One Resolution: Accurate Investigation, Speedy Justice”, this initiative will provide the facility of preliminary scientific investigation at the crime scene itself.

Costing approximately Rs 65 lakh per unit, these state-of-the-art vans are equipped with advanced facilities like crime scene preservation kit, evidence collection and sealing equipment, fingerprint detection system, narcotics testing kit, digital forensic support, high quality photography system, bullet hole screening and ballistic testing kit and Gunshot Residue (GSR) testing kit.

Previously, transporting evidence from crime scenes to laboratories took time, leading to the potential for evidence contamination and delays in reports. The new mobile forensic vans will enable preliminary investigations, evidence preservation, testing, and digital documentation to be conducted at the crime scene itself. This will significantly improve both the quality and speed of investigations.

  • Evidence-based justice system will get new strength

The objective of the State Government is to make scientific investigation accessible to the public, strengthen the evidence-based justice system, enhance the role of forensic science in crime control and ensure timely, transparent and credible investigation.

The operation of modern Dial-112 service and mobile forensic van will significantly improve the quality of emergency services in the state, crime investigation will get a new impetus and the faith of common citizens in law and order and justice system will be further strengthened.
