- Knowledge of modern technologies opens up new livelihood opportunities;
- poultry, goat rearing, fish farming and lac production will get a boost
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, effective initiatives are being continuously implemented in Jashpur district for the social and economic empowerment of the Scheduled Tribes (SBD). In this regard, a special training and exposure program was organized for the Scheduled Tribes (SBD) Birhor community in the village panchayat of Behrakhar in the Kunkuri development block of Jashpur district under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihar).
The program aimed to connect Birhor families with various livelihood opportunities, making them self-reliant and economically empowered. Currently, the community’s families are primarily engaged in activities such as poultry farming, goat rearing, and leaf-leaf making. Through the training, special emphasis was placed on making these activities more scientific, systematic, and profitable.
During the training, experts provided detailed information on modern techniques for goat rearing, poultry farming, and fish farming. Participants were informed about important information related to animal and bird care, balanced diet management, disease prevention and treatment, and product marketing. They also discussed challenges faced during business operations and practical solutions to them.
To increase the income of the Birhor community and expand employment opportunities, activities such as lac production and fisheries will also be promoted in the future. These efforts will provide additional self-employment opportunities to the community and further strengthen their economic situation.
Members of the Birhor community who participated in the program described the training as extremely useful and said that it provided them with knowledge of modern technologies, which they can adopt to make their livelihoods more profitable.
In line with the wishes of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, this initiative is proving to be an important step towards connecting the special backward tribes of Jashpur district with the mainstream and making them self-reliant.
