- Green signal given for bitumen surfacing of 13 major roads from DMF funds
Through the efforts of Chhattisgarh Government’s Commerce and Industry Minister and Korba MLA Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Korba city’s infrastructure is set to receive a major boost. More than Rs 17.50 crore has been sanctioned from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) fund for the resurfacing of major roads in the city. On Minister Shri Dewangan’s proposal, the district administration has issued administrative approval orders for the bitumen surfacing of 13 major roads.
Approved major bitumen surfacing works and costs
Rs 1.99 crore has been sanctioned for bitumen surfacing work from Sonalia Bridge to Tulsi Nagar Bypass, Rs 1.80 crore from Rishda Chowk to Gayatri Temple Main Road (GT Road), and Rs 1.74 crore from Imli Duggu Basti to Khadan Road (CC road and divider). Similarly, Rs 1.65 crore has been sanctioned from Podibahar Church to Lucky Big Basket Turn, Rs 1.64 crore from DDM Road via Lalu Ram Colony to Bus Stand, Rs 1.50 crore for Sardar Patel Nagar (residential area), Rs 1.45 crore for Sardar Patel Nagar (commercial area), Rs 1.38 crore from Prem Nagar Main Road to Kapatmuda Deepara Basti, and Rs 1.20 crore from Lalgahat BALCO Check Post to Rishda Chowk (BT Road) for bitumen surfacing work. Rs 97.80 lakh has been sanctioned from Subhash Chowk to the sub-station, Rs 87.75 lakh from Sonalia Bridge Canal to Sitamani Main Road, Rs 66.18 lakh from Collectorate ATM to Baigindabhar Anganwadi, and Rs 55 lakh and Rs 40 lakh respectively for bitumen surfacing work from Nehru Nagar (Ward-24) and Sharda Vihar to TP Nagar Gate.Tender process completed, works to begin after the rains
Minister Shri Dewangan said that in addition, the tender process for works worth Rs 7.12 crore, previously sanctioned for 6 other major roads in the city, has been completed. These include busy routes such as Jain Chowk to Ghantaghar Chowk, Ghantaghar Chowk to Kosabadi Chowk, Sunalia Bridge to Power House Road, and the old bus stand underbridge road. As soon as the rainy season ends, bitumen surfacing construction work on all these roads will be started on a war footing.
Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan said that approval orders for funds from the District Mineral Foundation fund have already been issued for bitumen surfacing of all the city’s main roads and roads connecting suburban areas, as well as internal roads in the wards, and funds for some more roads will be received within a few days. After the monsoon season ends, bitumen surfacing work on all the approved roads will be started.
