The GNM Training Center, established in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh with the aim of strengthening health services and connecting local youth with nursing education, has today become a powerful medium for education and employment in the region. This institution is not only strengthening the district’s health system but also playing a vital role in empowering local women to become self-reliant.
It is noteworthy that the ANM Training Center was first established in 2014 to expand health services in Narayanpur. Later, in 2017, keeping in mind the growing needs of the region and improved medical facilities, this institution was upgraded and began operating as a GNM Training Center.
Admission Rules and Government Help
Currently, there is provision for admission on a total of 40 seats in this training center, where a new academic session starts every year in the month of October-November. This is a 3-year diploma course. For admission, it is mandatory for the candidates to have passed 12th (Science subject) and the minimum age should be 18 years. It should be known that this center is completely residential, where currently 108 girl students are living and studying. The government is also providing scholarship facility for girl students from economically weaker families.

The institute’s success can be gauged from the fact that a total of 182 students have successfully graduated from the institute from 2017 to the 2023-24 academic year. It is a matter of pride that approximately 90% of these students are currently serving as staff nurses in various government, semi-government, and private medical institutions.

After completing the GNM course, students are also offered access to higher education. Graduates can further hone their skills by enrolling in a B.Sc. Nursing program. After this, they become eligible to serve as nursing officers and nursing tutors in various major hospitals and prestigious institutions across the country, such as AIIMS. This institute in Narayanpur has emerged as a major milestone in the field of health and education.
