Implementation of investment projects in the field of science and technology: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that science and technology will play an important role in the economy in the future. Madhya Pradesh has immense investment potential in the field of science and technology. We have to make the region a strong center of knowledge and technology by promoting innovation, research and technological development. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed the officials to make coordinated and effective efforts to attract more investments in the science and technology sector. Investment projects should be launched as soon as possible. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed the officials to make concerted efforts to build a gift city in Madhya Pradesh (capital region Bhopal) on the lines of Gujarat. He said that medi city, science city and engineering college are being built in Ujjain. A Center of Excellence (CoE) for Medical, Science and Technical Education should be established in Ujjain. Coordination with the central government should also be done for this.

Chief Minister Dr. On Thursday, Yadav held a comprehensive review meeting of the works and other activities of the Science and Technology Department at the Chief Minister’s Residence, Samatva Bhavan. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave special emphasis on investment promotion to make the region a leader in the field of science and innovation. He reviewed the special action plan prepared by the department to attract major investment (lead investment) in the field of science and technology and directed to implement it in a timely manner.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that investment in science and technology sector will not only accelerate industrial development, but also strengthen employment generation, research, start-up culture and technological self-reliance. He directed the departmental officials to give priority to innovation based projects and to maintain constant communication with investors. Various plans, progress reports and upcoming work plans of the department were also discussed in detail in the meeting. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed to ensure better coordination between all concerned departments to realize new prospects in the field of science and technology in the region. He said that the officers should fill the necessary human resource posts in the science and technology department. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed to make Rajiv Gandhi University of Technology more robust in view of increasing needs.

In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Urban Development and Housing and Science and Technology Mr. Sanjay Dubey gave a presentation and said that the proposal for setting up DeepTech Research Park in Ujjain has been sent to the Central Government. Now under this proposal a new work plan will be prepared and a revised proposal will be sent for establishing a Center of Excellence in Ujjain. This center will be prepared at a cost of around 400 crore rupees. DeepTech Research Park will also be a part of this Center of Excellence. He said that the Department of Science and Technology is preparing to make a gift city in Bhopal. It will be developed as EKAI CITY – Education, Knowledge and AI City. About 10 thousand crore rupees will be funded by the central government for this. The state government will also match the amount. He said that 4 American universities want to open their study campus in Madhya Pradesh. They are also being coordinated.

Principal Secretary Department of Science and Technology Shri M. Selvendrum said that Madhya Pradesh is becoming an emerging tech hub of the country. There are 5 IT SEZs, more than 15 IT Parks, more than 50 large IT companies, around 1200+ tech start-ups operating here. The state also has more than 300 colleges imparting technical education, more than 50 thousand technical graduates/year (UG. PG, Diploma), institutes of national importance like IIT, IIITDM, IIM, AIIMS. He said that there are 6 policies in the technical sector in the state. MP Start-up Policy : 2022 is also applicable. Incentives like capital expenditure, interest subsidy are also being given to investors by the government. He said that about 12 thousand 500 crore rupees has been invested in tech sector in Madhya Pradesh. This has created around 50 thousand new jobs. The department is focusing on emerging technology sectors like IT ITES and Quantum and AI, Data Center, ESDM- Data Center Components Manufacturing, Semi Conductor- Packaging, Design, Drone Manufacturing, GCC, AVGC-XR and Space Tech. Under this entire sector in the region, proposals for mega projects worth around Rs 5 thousand 892 crore are in the pipeline.

Principal Secretary Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Mr. Raghavendra Kumar Singh told the meeting that 10 lakh square feet of land is available with the Industries Department. Land is being made available to investors in minimum time. He said that under the start-up mission under the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, we are also providing necessary assistance to investors investing in the science and technology sector.

Prof. Santosh Kumar Vishwakarma in his special presentation elaborately highlighted the radical development of science and technology sector in Madhya Pradesh and the prospects of investment in this sector. He also gave his suggestions to the government to make this sector effective.

Additional Chief Secretary (Chief Minister’s Office) Mr. Neeraj Mandaloi, Principal Secretary Technical Education Mr. Manish Singh, Project Director MP Industrial Development Corporation Limited Mr. Chandramouli Shukla, Tata Consultancy Services Officer Mr. Tapas Tiwari and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
