IIT Bhilai Inaugurates Three-Day Teacher Training Programme

A three-day Teacher Training Programme sponsored by Samagra Shiksha was inaugurated
today at IIT Bhilai. The programme aims to train around 400 teachers in eight batches, with
each batch undergoing a three-day intensive training at the institute.
The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Rajiv Prakash, Director, IIT Bhilai, who is the
Patron of the programme and the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the pivotal role
of teachers in nation-building and shaping society. He urged teachers to become swaavalambi
(self-reliant), focus on skill development, and guide students towards developing strong
character and values.
The programme is being convened by Dr. Mehboob Alam and Dr. Dhruv Pratap Singh.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Mehboob Alam described teachers as lamps that illuminate
society by working tirelessly to dispel the darkness of illiteracy.

highlighted the lifelong influence of teachers by citing the example of former President Dr. A.
P. J. Abdul Kalam, who often acknowledged the invaluable contribution of his school
teachers to his success.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Dr Kuldeep Kumar Kataria Dean of Academic
Affairs and Dr Mahavir Sharma and Dr Mayilmurugan the Heads of the Departments of
Physics and Chemistry respectively, along with faculty members and participating teachers.
The programme is designed to strengthen teaching practices, promote skill-oriented
education, and foster value-based learning among school teachers.
