The National Youth Parliament Competition is a flagship program organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for school and college students. Its primary objective is to develop democratic values, an understanding of parliamentary processes, and leadership qualities among youth, enabling them to become responsible citizens and future public representatives. With strong determination and the right guidance, even the talents of the remote forest region of Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division can make their presence felt in the national capital, Delhi.
Chhattisgarh team emerged as the runner-up
The students of Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Cheribera, located in Narayanpur district of Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, have achieved something similar. The school’s 53-member team not only represented Chhattisgarh at the zonal level National Youth Parliament Competition held in Udaipur (Kherwada), Rajasthan, but also brought glory to the entire state with their excellent and energetic performance. In this prestigious competition, there was a tough competition between the teams of Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, in which the Chhattisgarh team emerged as the runner-up.
- 8 bright students will go to New Delhi to watch the proceedings of Parliament.

In this competition, eight talented students who brought honor to Chhattisgarh have been selected for the national level. These children will now have the historic opportunity to take an educational tour of the country’s temple of democracy—the Parliament House in New Delhi—and watch the live proceedings there. It is worth noting that Harsha won first place in the role of Speaker, followed by Mansay and Anuradha in second place, and Anjila, Nikita, Vedika, Jayabati, and Shami in third place. The confidence with which these children brought democratic processes and parliamentary debates to life on stage won the hearts of the judges.
- Guidance and dedication behind the success
The school’s Principal’s inspiring leadership and vision have been behind this historic success. The rigorous training and dedication of the program in-charge and social science teacher played a key role in teaching the children the intricacies of Parliament and helping them reach this milestone. The Principal expressed his gratitude to all the senior officials, including NESTS Headquarters (New Delhi), EMRS State Society CTD Raipur, the Narayanpur Collector, and the Assistant Commissioner of the Tribal Welfare Department, for this prestigious achievement, whose continued support encouraged the children to move forward.
This significant leap by children from forest areas like Narayanpur in the Bastar division has brought joy to the entire state. School families, parents, and prominent citizens of the region congratulated the selected students and wished them a bright future.
