The Vikasit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihoods Mission (VB-G RAM-G) is emerging as a strong foundation for economic empowerment for rural workers. The increased employment period, increased wage rates, and timely payment arrangements have given rural families renewed confidence in economic security. Rani Singh, a resident of Parasgarhi village in the Manendragarh district’s development block, is a strong example of this. She currently works regularly as a laborer in development projects conducted under VB-G RAM-G and is experiencing the benefits of the scheme as a positive change in her life.
Rani Singh explains that previously, under MNREGA, rural workers were only provided 100 days of employment per year, earning a daily wage of ₹261. The low wages often made it difficult to meet family needs. Now, with the implementation of VB-G RAM-G, 125 days of employment are guaranteed, and the daily wage has been increased to ₹300. Additionally, with wages being paid within 15 days, workers are receiving their wages on time. This has reduced economic hardship and strengthened the family’s financial situation. Rani Singh says that the additional 25 days of employment and the increased wages have brought significant relief to rural families.
Regular
and timely income now allows for a more manageable monthly household expenditure. Meeting children’s education, healthcare, nutrition, agricultural work, and other essential household needs is becoming easier. While income uncertainty previously persisted, the family is now able to confidently plan for the future.

She explained that consistent employment within the village has significantly reduced the need to travel to other areas in search of work. This has allowed her to spend more time with her family and provides her with the satisfaction of participating in the village’s development efforts. Rani Singh believes that VB-G RAM-G has emerged as an effective means of economic self-reliance
for women
. With employment available within the village, women are earning a regular income while fulfilling their domestic responsibilities. This has strengthened the family’s financial situation, while also enhancing women’s self-confidence, decision-making, and social participation. She stated that this scheme is providing rural women with the opportunity to become self-reliant through respectable employment.
Rani
Singh explained that the benefits of this scheme are not limited to the individual level; rather, its positive impact is being felt across the entire village economy. The increased employment opportunities have increased the purchasing power of villagers, accelerated economic activity in local markets, and accelerated development efforts in villages. This is creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural areas and strengthening the concept of self-reliant villages.
Expressing gratitude to the government,
Rani Singh expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this public welfare initiative, stating that the scheme is bringing real change in the lives of rural poor and working families. She also thanked Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for the effective implementation of the scheme, stating that the state government’s efforts are effectively reaching the eligible beneficiaries.
She expressed confidence that through VB-G RAM-G, new employment, income, and livelihood opportunities will continuously increase in rural areas. Improved employment, improved wages, and timely payments will play a crucial role in economically empowering thousands of working families, creating developed, prosperous, and self-reliant villages. This scheme is truly proving to be a new chapter of hope, dignity, and prosperity for working families in rural India.
