- English Communication Skills of Youth in Chhattisgarh’s Tribal Areas to be Enhanced
In alignment with the vision of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and under the guidance and directives of Higher Education Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma, the Higher Education Department of the Chhattisgarh Government is launching a significant initiative for the bright future of students in the state’s Scheduled Tribe (ST) areas. A special 90-hour training course has been designed to hone the English communication skills of students from these tribal regions.
Higher Education Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma has described this initiative as a milestone in the journey towards boosting the self-confidence and personality development of the youth. He has instructed officials to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the last person in the Scheduled Tribe category and that every eligible student avails of it. The objective of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s government is to equip students from the state’s remote and tribal areas with globally competitive capabilities. To realize this goal, a ‘State-Level English Communication Course Executive Committee’ has been constituted to conduct and monitor this 90-hour course.
The program will be implemented through the National Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance Cell and the State Project Office of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). This special course will be conducted in colleges located in Scheduled Tribe areas across the state. This initiative will help youth studying in remote regions overcome their hesitation in conversing in English and expressing their ideas effectively, thereby opening up new avenues for employment and higher education.
To ensure the smooth operation, high quality, and effective monitoring of the course, a crucial meeting of the ‘State-Level English Communication Course Monitoring Committee’ was held under the chairmanship of the Commissioner, Higher Education Department. During the meeting, senior committee officials held detailed discussions on the phased implementation framework of the course.
