Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, Bastar is today establishing new dimensions of development, tourism and cultural identity. Bastar is creating a new identity in the country and the world due to its natural beauty, tribal culture and tourist destinations. Chitrakoot and Tirathgarh waterfalls, Kanger Valley National Park, Bastar Dussehra and other folk festivals are symbols of Bastar’s rich heritage. Mr. Trimbak Sharma, editor of Cartoon Watch, said that the theme of the workshop, ‘Smiling Bastar’, aims to give creative expression to these positive aspects through cartoon art.

In this workshop, senior cartoonist Mr. Madhav Joshi from Delhi and renowned cartoonist Mr. Shubham Jinde from Pune will provide on-the-spot training in cartoon and caricature creation through live demos. Students will also be introduced to the social, creative, and employability aspects of cartoon art.

The workshop will provide a platform for local talents, and promote Bastar’s positive identity nationwide through art. The “Smiling Bastar” campaign is a creative effort to connect the new generation with its culture, folk traditions, and natural heritage.
